The advantages of pavement sweeping...
Question: Why should I have a company sweep parking areas and streets?
Answer: It is for the obvious aesthetic values of curb appeal and the "look" of a well-maintained property. In addition, a regularly scheduled maintenance program can prolong the life of the pavement and any pavement striping, thereby delaying costly resurfacing expenses.
Question: Are there different methods of sweeping?
Answer: Yes. Traditional broom sweeping is one option. Another less-abrasive method uses an air sweeper. This type of machine has "gutter brooms," like the one shown in the photo, that provide a clean curb line and a sweeping action that's more gentle on the pavement. This type of machine also produces much less dust during operation, and picks up small material that can become airborne when it's windy.
Question: How often should a property be swept?
Answer: Sweeping is a regular maintenance procedure. Twice a month is recommended.
Question: How do I select a sweeping company?
Answer: Start by checking references. Ask property managers to learn who they use. Once you locate a company, arrange for a meeting with a representative to learn about the company and its sweeping methods. Inquire about the type of sweepers they use. You may want to take a look at the pdf file that shows what WorldSweeper.com, the professional website for sweeping, says that sweeping contractors should provide.
Question: Do I need to make any preparations prior to the sweeping?
Answer: No. You should, however, schedule any landscaping maintenance work the day before the sweeping is scheduled. Builders should ensure the pathways are clear and free of piles of material. Sunstate Sweeping uses heavy duty blowers in areas the trucks cannot access.
Question: Can professional sweeping extend the life expectancy of the pavement?
Answer: Yes. Sand, rock and debris act as an abrasive. Removing them regularly assists in preventing pot holes, cracking, and striping erosion. Resurfacing costs are tremendous! By sweeping outside of office and other buildings, inside floor maintenance can also be reduced through the removal of the street-based abrasive material.
Question: Will street sweeping disrupt traffic?
Answer: Minimally. Sweeping can be scheduled around high traffic times to accommodate your needs.
Question: How is the environment affected?
Answer: Sunstate Sweeping uses environmentally-friendly, state-of-the-art equipment. All of our street sweepers have been certified as 'small particulate compliant' by the South Coast Air Quality Management District, which means they have passed the most stringent testing done to date in the U.S. In a nutshell, this means the sweepers we use have excellent pickup ability for both large debis and material smaller than a human hair - which is the size that is a leading cause of asthma. At the same time, the machines produce a very minimal amount of dust and noise during operation.
